The Director General of the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has officially announced the commencement of winter vacations for schools and colleges in Islamabad.
In an official notification issued by the FDE, it has been declared that all educational institutions falling under the jurisdiction of the FDE will observe winter vacations from December 25 to December 29. Given that December 30 and 31 fall on a Saturday and Sunday, respectively, academic activities will resume on January 1, 2024.
The announcement comes as part of the routine annual winter break, allowing students and staff to take a reprieve and enjoy the festive season. It is a customary measure to ensure a rejuvenated start to the new year.
Notably, last month, the FDE implemented adjustments to the operating hours of all schools and colleges in both urban and rural areas of Islamabad in response to the decreasing temperatures. According to the notification issued by the FDE, these revised timings will remain effective until January 31, 2024.
For single-shift institutes, the updated schedule entails operations from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm from Monday through Thursday, with an early closure at 12:30 pm every Friday. This modification is intended to accommodate the changing weather conditions and ensure the well-being of students and staff.
Similarly, the FDE has communicated updated timings for double-shift institutes in the federal capital. The morning session is scheduled to run from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm from Monday to Thursday, concluding at 12:30 pm on Fridays. Meanwhile, the evening shift will operate from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Monday through Thursday, and the second shift will commence at 2:30 pm on Fridays.
These adjustments in timings are a proactive measure by the FDE to address the challenges posed by the winter season while ensuring that educational activities continue seamlessly. It reflects the commitment of educational authorities to prioritize the well-being of students and educators in Islamabad during the colder months.
